For all Trout anglers

Posted By : Daz On Wednesday 16 July 2008 - 06:25:03

To mark the 100th anniversary of Fontburn Reservoir, the fishery is to stock 5 monster rainbows.

Captors of the five monsters which will each weigh between 15 - 20lb will land valuable prizes.

The names of the anglers who catch the 5 giant trout at Fontburn near Rothbury will go into a draw.
The first name out of the hat will win a season ticket for the 09 season for all Northumbrian Water fisheries worth £695.
The next three names out of the hat will win a luxury cabin weekend break at Leaplish in Kielder Water & Forest Park.
The final lucky angler will win a free family day's fishing at any Northumbrian Water premier fishery.

Kayak Fishing - It Is A Real Sport

Posted By : Andy On Wednesday 16 April 2008 - 18:54:05

I thought I'd submit this to both give the site a fresh look as well as a lot more. Since my first posts in North East Angling about Kayak Fishing from my Perception Scooter back in 2004-5 when I was spinning for Mackerel & surfing waves as "mad yakker". The sport of kayak fishing has blossomed over here in the UK. It's huge in the USA & now all over the world as we prove the safety aspects of it are worthy and the catch rates improve without doubt as you've seen from my own reports in the past.

I used to post my reports in here but having fallen mostly upon deaf ears & many locals calling me "mad" & or "dangerous", I gave up & concentrated on the Kayak Fishing UK site & tried to promote the sport in the UK. Since I put KFUK up to help anyone in the UK get info on the sport, practically everyone I've spoken too, met up with & paddled with seems hellbent on either making money out of the sport or getting some sort of fame kick from it as they see it as a "niche" in the market & greed takes over.
My reaction to this was to plough on with the site & just be myself & enjoy it as well as help others promote it but its become too comercialized already & the KFUK site is suffering as too many people out there try to take what I put up & make it there own. For me its all down to human nature & the want for fame & fortune! You all know I'm not like that & know I just like to enjoy life to its full potential so I'll try to promote this great sport so others can enjoy it too.

To all those out there who think they're "mr kayak fishing uk" or regional experts! your 3-4 years too late & look sad trying to be mr big as you tell everyone about YOUR NEW SPORT. There's very little money to be made from selling kayaks & accessories as its all been sewn up, LOL I was going to open KFUK as a retail outlet back in 05 but the demand wasn't there & never will be as the retail industry is so "dog eat dog" I decided it wasn't worth the effort. Good luck to all who try to rape our sport for profit & gain but don't expect a safety net in me when it all capsizes

I run along with Ray from doon Liverpool way who helps me & we just enjoy the sport & promoting it around the UK. Feel free to pop in & ask any questions or even ask in here for advice on "yak fishing". I go by experience & not the want for fame & fortune so your safe with me

tight lines lads,

Andy

I don't like using 100% on a table cell when I have a pixel width defined in the other cell so rather than defining the 100% I just hide a large div at the bottom to push out the edge.
